First Lady, Rubbie Speights

"The Church with a Heart in the Heart of the City...Building on the Foundation of Jesus Christ"

Rubbie Speights is the devoted wife to Pastor Joshua Speights of Neabsco Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. They have been united as one for more than 35 years. She enjoys serving the LORD; preparing and mentoring American future leaders in the public school system and within the Church; as well as reading fiction novels and spending quality time with her family. Rubbie is a loving mother and a positive role model to two children, two grandchildren, and a son and daughter in law.

 

Rubbie was born and raised in Blytheville Arkansas. She is a graduated of Blytheville Senior High School; she received her Bachelor degree in Psychology from Park University; and her Master's degree in Education from George Mason University. 


On June 13, 1976, Rubbie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the True Light Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville, Ark. During the Spring of 1977 Rubbie's brother arranged a date with her and the young Joshua Speights. After a long distance courtship (from Arkansas - Norfolk), Joshua Speights and Rubbie were united in holy matrimony on August 26, 1977 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville. After 35 years of marriage, Pastor Speights still reminisces how the smile of First Lady Speights caught his attention. 


After eleven months of marriage our father in heaven blessed Rubbie and Joshua Speights with their first born child. On July 12, 1978 a day before Rubbie's birthday, God granted them the desire of their hearts, an 8 lb.6.5oz baby girl, whom they named, Niesha Andrea. On April 7, 1981, three days prior to Pastor Speights' birthday, they welcomed their second child, a healthy 9lb. 8 oz. baby boy, Joshua Wendell Speights III. Niesha and Joshua continue to walk with their parents and God at Neabsco Baptist Church serving whole heartily in various ministries. 

Today, Pastor and First Lady Speights' family extends to a son and daughter law and two grandchildren. David Burno is the husband of Neisha, they have two children, Chloe and Josiah; and Shannon Ligon is the wife to Joshua Speights III. 


Rubbie is dedicated to the vision and mission of Neabsco Baptist Church; she is a woman of integrity and unwavering determination, within Neabsco Baptist church she is a role model and mentor to many young ladies. She provides leadership to the Women of the Word (WOW) ministry and publishes a monthly newsletter for ladies. 


Beyond the church, Rubbie is currently employed by Prince William County Public Schools, as a Special Education teacher at Benton Middle School. She is a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc


First Lady Speights labors diligently as The First Lady of Neabsco Baptist Church alongside her Pastor, Pastor Joshua Speights Jr. in building on the vision that God has given them. The Church with a Heart in the Heart of the City.....Building on the Foundation of Jesus Christ.
