FitzRoy Smith

FitzRoy is a known leader, innovative builder and a visionary with an authentic voice.  His accolades range from the church board to the civic board of service in Hampton Roads, VA.  In essence, his commitment to serving people extends beyond the four walls of the church to that of various successful entrepreneurial ventures.  He is the President and CEO of FOOTPRINT, LLC, a community-based mental health agency where the mission is “DEVELOPING THE MOST VALUABLE COMMODITY; PEOPLE.”  He is an active community board member for the Portsmouth Effingham YMCA.  FitzRoy is also a Spiritual coach and the founder of FOOTSTEPS, a mentoring and solution focused program. Given his service-based affiliations, he has shown himself to be a “Life Changer” in his community.

FitzRoy has always believed that if you cannot find what you are looking for, it is your charge to become it. This charge is reflected in his core values. Additionally, his beliefs are manifest in not only his academic and professional pursuits but also his civic duties.  FitzRoy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA. He will also earn his Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in May of this year. While a scholar and bourgeoning theologian, his commitment to the mental health concerns of his community continues to grow. Under FOOTPRINT, LLC, a mental health agency, FitzRoy is devoted to providing mental and behavioral support to children in an affordable and professional capacity. But, more importantly, he is an advocate for helping his fellow man and understanding that service to people is a requirement for creating change in one's community.

From birth, it was firmly instilled in him that “Great people serve the world; mediocre people serve themselves.” Therefore, as one who is motivated by a deep desire to help others learn and grow, as well as expand their sense of possibilities to reach their highest potential, FitzRoy understands his greatest accomplishments to be in the changed lives of the people he serves.

Guidance from the Board of Directors

In response to the ongoing medical crisis we are experiencing, the following guidance is provided:

  • Sunday Worship Service will stream on the Church website (click here) at 10:00 AM
  • Wednesday Bible Study will stream on the Church website (click here) at 7:30 PM

Members are asked to pray for the church and pray for each other during this time of peril. Deacons and Deaconess will be reaching out to members to determine members status and needs.

We are complying with the recommendations provided by the CDC, that no more than ten (10) people congregate in one place.  We will continue to have Worship Service and Bible Study, both services will be virtual,

we hope everyone will join us!

Church Operations

Due to increasing concerns surrounding COVIN-19, the church will be closed during the weekday until further notice.
